My Project

Read-alouds are a powerful tool for infusing social studies concepts into the daily routine of elementary classrooms. It is not uncommon for important social studies topics, like citizenship and geography, to get pushed aside in favor of math and literacy instruction. There just aren’t enough hours in the day.

Through the use of picture books, we can provide students with meaningful discussion around a story that will not only illustrate a social studies topic, but can inspire compassion as well.

This selection of books were purposely picked to create deeper thinking in students and help guide them toward more understanding about different cultures as well as help them learn math and social studies essentials.
