Help us learn math with a new math manipulative kit! Our current classroom is lovely, with plenty of space to house new materials. Being that we are a new school, we are facing the test of limited money and thus, limited resources. We look forward to receiving tools to help us learn this year!
My class is a Spanish/English dual language classroom with amazing students who are so excited about their learning.
They are an incredibly diverse group of 5-7 year olds in New York who represent countries and backgrounds far and wide. Each child is accepting of others and is a contributing member of their classroom community. Ultimately, while they are of the type to make the most of what they have in the room, they would greatly appreciate additional resources to increase their learning.
My Project
As part of a new school, there are a number of challenges facing all classrooms in their efforts to acquire resources and physically build the space for students. While many schools have the benefit of having accumulated materials over time, our school is struggling with not only beginning our year of academic instruction, but also building up our classrooms at the same time.
Currently my class has one set of dice, which has been used as the only hands-on math resource. The math manipulative kit that I have requested is one that could be used for many years. I envision being able to use this kit on a daily basis during math instruction. Whether used in small group or whole class instruction, the included tools will help our students to understand math concepts and apply them to the real world.
