My students are amazing! We have painted on such a variety of items. This year we created African inspired costumes using cut styrofoam from recycled trays and card board boxes to create blocks. We have printed on old t-shirts, newspapers and fabric remnants. We have recycled trader Joe bags and stuffed them with newspaper to make pumpkins for a seasonal patch. We have painted on bottles and buttons and popsicle sticks using paper mache technique to create UPCYCLE art pieces. We are a small school with two classes on a grade. Our population is a majority of first generation Americans. Each grade has one ICT on a grade. My students love art and are truly creative. Through donors choose we have beautiful sculptures and paintings but it’s time for us to stock our shelves with new canvas, sculpture materials and drawing supplies to continue the magic.
Materials are expensive my “go green” students are so accustomed to using cardboard and recycled paper and brushes that have been "loved by 600 students 3-13 years old. Imagine the awe and shock when receiving new canvas, new brushes on their easels (previous donation from this program). The look of getting clay and wire to sculpt sculptures on sculpture board (boards previously donated from this program). The amazing water soluble graphite pencils will help to draft compositions and sketch ideas while using water to create a basic shadow effect. Whole punchers help us to create self-made books bound with beautiful ribbons we get donated from Materials for the Arts. These are "GO Green" students they don’t get new they get recycled used. All our money we use for basic supplies like glue, tape, construction paper. We recycle all year and work with everything from cardboard to left over Pringle cups. You donation makes this experience happen when you contribute to their “special activity.” Help us bring the joy of art to kids. No donation too small!! After all our littlest child is 3!
