Support Student Well-Being, Creativity, and Mental Health!
Help me give my students food so they are not hungry, first aid for minor injuries and mishaps, and fun materials for our maker space club. These supplies will help students focus on learning and creative growth.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our wonderful little 7-12th grade school has four dedicated afternoons a week to support students to engage in clubs and extracurricular activities. During this time in my classroom I host a Maker Space where students work on sewing projects, 3D modeling, computer programming, and the creation of graphics to print on to clothing and stickers.
By the end of the day students are often hungry which impacts their ability to focus.
These snack resources will support students to have what they need throughout the day and after school so that they feel great and are ready to put their best efforts into their studies and creative endeavors. These items support student health, well-being and some of the material needs of our creative Maker Space.
These supplies will help female students to have free access to hygiene products if they find themselves in need, as well as a soothing warm support stuffed animal to alleviate cramps. Little things like having an ice pack for a bruise, a band aid for a scratch, or a stain remover for that spot on a favorite t shirt can all help these young people to feel cared for and safe.
