Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach reading intervention to groups of sweet, generous, and kind-hearted students from 1st to 5th grade. My students love to learn and want to become better readers!

Many of my students are multilingual learners who want to develop their reading, writing, and speaking skills in English.

My students always come to class with smiles on their faces and a ready-to-learn attitude. The students in my class never give up and always try their best. I strive to give them the best educational experience a school can offer.

We are a Title I school, so we need a lot of extra resources, especially if we want to order supplies or class sets of books. A high percentage of students receive free and reduced-price lunch, so it is also another financial burden for families to purchase extra books and supplies.

My Project

This is the project no one thought to prepare for: Distance Learning during a pandemic. As a reading interventionist, I need to prepare my shared space to film literacy lessons. Not only is the Covid -19 crisis disrupting society, but also the education of our students and teaching style. As educators quickly transition from traditional classroom to online learning platforms, it is imperative that educators are equipped and prepared for the ever changing times.

Although the future is currently uncertain, one thing stays the same- children's education is priority.Thanks to technology, students can continue to hold onto familiar faces and routines, a small piece of comfort that impacts socio-emotional and academic well being.

With your help, my online classroom will be much better suited and organized to serve the needs of my 55 students in spite of the distance and obstacles. Thank you.
