Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have overcome many disadvantages. They live in a high-poverty urban area and our school does not have many resources. Thanks to DonorsChoose, they have succeeded again and again with the wonderful materials donated by generous people like you. Challenges remain. They need new books!

My students are in a self-contained special education school.

They are smart, eager, and they love to learn. Most have been in my class since kindergarten, and now that they're in third grade, I can begin to see real development in their literacy, math, and social skills.

My Project

Recently, our school adopted a new curriculum with one catch: there are no materials! All worksheets, books, and supplements have to be printed. We have been using our printer constantly and require new cartridges almost weekly. As my students are exploring new material and read voraciously as their literacy skills develop, we are also running out of fresh reading material. New books that work with our classroom Leapfrog Tag readers will keep my students intrigued in the wonderful world of reading.

Never have books and materials been so imperative to the success of these students.

Their budding minds are craving to work, and I need to give them all the opportunities they deserve to do so. You can help! Together, we will make a profound effect on their success.
