This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I've now had the privilege of understanding when a teacher would call us "my kids." I truly understand what that term of endearment means. My students are "my kids." I revel in their innocence, their sense of humor, and their eagerness for more information.
Regardless of attending a Title I school with many economically disadvantaged peers, my students come to class every morning and greet me with smiles and hugs.
We take care of each other and definitely consider ourselves a family.
My Project
The learners that are benefiting from this project are absolutely amazing little people! Our school has an Autism Spectrum Disorder unit that serves students in our community that are in kindergarten through 5th grades. While students with autism may have unique needs with learning, social skills, and communication, they are as loved and educated as much as the next student.
This project aims to provide our students with much needed resources to help guide them in their learning and to provide engaging ways to keep them focused on the content.
Whisper phones are a great alternative for allowing the student to hear their own voice and focus on every sound they say. These are great for segmenting phonemes and phonics. The Power Pens, Comprehension Cards, and Math Cards will help to keep them engaged and provide immediate feedback for a job well done! The writing folders will guide them the process of finishing a well-written piece of work. The colorful illustrations will also encourage our students during each step of the process. Lastly, the multiplication machine also provides immediate reinforcement and fluency!
Thank you for the opportunity to provide our students with quality tools to help them learn!
