My Students

Our district is low socioeconomic status (SES) with nearly all students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Students attend class regularly because they know it is a safe place and they are cared for at school. Our goal is to get students excited about learning again.

Our goal is to provide students with a safe and nurturing environment conducive for learning.

Many of our students have experienced hardship and personal challenges that interfere with their ability to focus and retain information during class. Despite these challenges, students want to learn and demonstrate their interest in the material. One way that I can ensure that happens is by providing the basic necessities they might need.

My Project

Even without a pandemic life can be difficult. The items on my list are basic items that the students might need while they are at school. Learning is impossible if students are experiencing food insecurities, lacking hygiene products, or needing something to make their life just a little easier.

Having access to basic, everyday items will help ensure that my students are able to focus on their education.

The water fountains at school are now "water-filling stations" and sometimes students forget their water bottles. Every time I am able to provide a snack, Kleenex, or band-aids is an instance where they don't have to leave the classroom in search of what they need!
