This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students this year are incredibly hands-on and active. They need many chances to stand and walk around and just move. We are also adopting a "Thinking Classroom Model" this year, which allows for them to stand up and work, use dry-erase markers to work out their math and science questions by writing on almost anything: the desks, the tables, the floor, the whiteboards, and even the windows! As cool as this all is (and it does look cool, too, while it's happening), the dry erasers don't erase their work, and the markers stain. The only way for us to fully clear off their work and prepare for the following problem or class is to use a wipe to get it off. We are running out of a few wipes since a family donated only one carton to me at the beginning of the year.

Additionally, for many years, we have had an abundance of copy paper stored in our custodian storage room.

While we were always careful about not wasting the copy paper, it quickly became apparent that even the smallest amount of copies add up quickly!

We need to copy papers for classwork, for reading and math stations, for projects, for supplemental practice and so much more.

Unfortunately, our building has officially run out of paper! We are now rationed one box every few months, but in order to do all that we need to do, more paper is needed.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
