This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students live in a rural area with a diverse population. A number of them are from military families, and various ethnic backgrounds and cultures. Some students have limited technology access and experience varying levels of poverty, while others are fairly affluent. Some are native Spanish speakers while most use English as a second language.
Whatever walk of life my rising ninth and tenth grade students come from they are willing and able to learn and grow.
My students look to me for support and to help them learn and grow not just in my classroom, but to better themselves in ways that will benefit them in life. As a support system for my students, I feel it is imperative that I am able to help them feel comfortable, cared for, and prepared for the tasks they will be working on in my classroom.
My Project
These pens, college ruled paper, sticky notes, dry erase covers and dry erase markers will help students with their writing needs and their close reading and note taking needs. At times students are not equipped with the necessary materials to begin working when they enter the classroom.
This donation will help students have basic supplies they need to begin working immediately in the classroom.
As soon as they enter the room, they will have the materials at hand and can start working without having to borrow or delay starting their assignment. As a result, they will feel more confident at the beginning of class because they have the required materials.
