Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students come from a low-income, high-poverty area. Often, my students come to school exhausted and without the materials necessary for school work.

A lot of my students go home and take care of younger siblings while their parents are working the third shift.

Although in sixth grade, many students are responsible for getting themselves and their siblings up in the morning and for getting them to school.

While they experience difficulties in and out of school, my students have hearts of gold. They desire to do well and truly care about their teachers.

My Project

Our student supplies are running low, and students very much need them! Students use sets of highlighters almost every day in our class in order to improve their own writing. To keep the highlighters together, we have been using Ziploc bags. These bags have holes in them and are not doing their jobs. Pencil pouches are needed to keep these everyday supplies needed. We are running low on pencils, markers, and other needed supplies.

With the ongoing spread of illness, tissues are desperately needed.

We have run out and students are having to use paper towels and toilet paper instead. These supplies may seem small, but they take up a big part of our day!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
