Supply Backpacks for Success at Home!

Help me give my students pencils, sharpeners, erasers, whiteboards, dry erase markers, scissors, flashcards, and backpacks for my students to have all the supplies they need at home to practice kindergarten skills.

My Students

The students at my school are from a rural farm community. We have a small school at the edge of a large corporation. Our students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds. We are lucky to have great families that work hard and are involved in our school events, but we don't get a lot of extra funding from the state. This is due to our school not qualifying as a Title I school. Title I schools have a higher level of free and reduced-price lunches than we currently have.

My sweet kiddos are hard workers, but they have lots of extra energy and thrive during hands-on activities.

We try to keep moving around our classroom several times throughout the day to help with this. I also have tried to incorporate a flexible seating environment to keep their little bodies wiggling, while engaged in learning, while at our seats. We have had a lot of success when we use hands-on manipulatives and activities.

I love to provide learning opportunities that will get my students moving, thinking, and stimulating their learning by creating.

My Project

As of right now, we are scheduled to return to our classroom in a few weeks. However, we have been asked to limit sending items home that need to be brought back and forth. These at home supplies will provide my students with everything they need to practice letter identification, sounds, number recognition using flashcards and whiteboards. Plus, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, dry erase boards, markers, paint, scissors, and supplies to keep them busy learning at home since I won't be sending things back and forth and in the event that we are switched to Remote Learning my students will have all the supplies they need to continue learning at home.

In these unprecedented times I want my students to have all the supplies they need to continue learning at home whether we are in regular school or doing Remote Learning at home.

Kindergarten is definitely more of a hands-on grade level and these supplies will help them be able to practice writing, cutting, painting, and even practice letters and numbers in a fun way with their flashcards.
