Supplies to Support Our Love of Music

My students need basic supplies (a mallet, a case, and oil) for band to maintain and carry their instruments. We also need portable music stands so we can be on the move!

My Students

Middle school kids are a unique group; funny, easily distracted, and so excited for music. Our junior high students are amazingly resilient. Many of these students have tricky home situations or struggle with health or income related issues. Because of these socioeconomic struggles, families often do not have money to support their children in the arts.

Even when children really want to participate in the arts, families don't have wiggle room in their budgets to pay for an instrument, let alone the extra supplies needed in band and choir!

Our bands and choir make excellent sounds despite all of their struggles. They truly inspire me every day.

My Project

Our music room does not have enough stands for everyone to use. We have to share 2 or 3 people to a stand just to get by in class. We are hoping to get out into the community and play more often, so we need these folding stands so we can have enough stands for everyone in class and so we can be on the move! We also need this flute case because one of our flute cases is barely held together by duct tape. We also need the valve oil so our trumpets and baritones can move those sticky valves! The cymbal mallets we currently own are actually for marimba and are held together by duct tape.

These supplies will help our band reach out into the community and meet our basic needs for supplies.

We often have a hard time just playing in class because we have so little supplies to spread among our group.
