My Project

First graders are special because they are in a transitional period of explosive developmental growth where the focus shifts dramatically from play-based exploration to formal academic and social-emotional learning.

Flexible seating supports academic and social-emotional learning by shifting the classroom from a traditional, teacher-centered space to a student-centered environment that prioritizes individual needs, choice, and movement.

An additional lap desk and floor pillows will provide more students with access to flexible seating.

Providing students with essential supplies such as sheet protectors, markers, and zipper pouches (for organization) ensures academic and social-emotional learning by addressing equity, reducing distraction, and building a sense of preparedness.
