My Students
My class is comprised of 24 wonderful second-grade students in the heart of the Silicon Valley in San Jose. The majority of my students are learning English as a second language and qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch, but this does not hold them back in any way. Students come to school daily with a drive to learn more academically, and I strive to do my best to give that to them. They deserve nothing but the most solid educational experience possible! Everyone at the school including teachers, principal, support staff, parents, and students, helps to make our school a wonderful place to be and learn. Help us make our educational experiences even more memorable!
My Project
With budget cuts in the upcoming school year, it is essential for me to try my best to find alternative ways for my students to get the best materials that they deserve to optimize their learning. For this project, I am requesting nameplates and protective sleeves. These stay on student desks all year long. They serve as a learning resource for all as they have the alphabet printed on top with lowercase and uppercase letter. They also have a hundreds chart, number line, and an addition chart. Students use these throughout the year for various math skills. I'm also requesting spiral notebook journals for all students. We use these during guided reading group time. All students read at different levels. Two components to guided reading time is word building skills and writing. We use the journals for word patterning strategies as well as different writing structures. Lastly, we need more gold stars for our classroom. The gold stars are incentive stickers for improvement in either academics or behaviors. Each student can earn a star based on improvements seen by the teacher. When 10 stars are earned, they level up. This has been a huge motivator for all students. Thank you so much for taking an interest into our classroom!
