Help me give my students mini glue guns and glue sticks for their gingerbread houses, a box cutter to cut the cardboard and foamcore and other supplies for our classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a safe haven, a place where kids can work toward a common goal. Our students need somewhere safe to be, a place off of the tough, local streets. Kids at our school learn commitment, teamwork, and pride as well as academic skills.
I am the 7-12 grade chorus teacher as well as the assistant marching band director.
I also work with the beginning band students in grades four through six. Our students are vibrant and love to be the center of attention. All of the students in our school receive free breakfast and lunch, and there are after school activities that serve extra meals so kids don't go hungry.
However, our budget is non-existent. Our building is old and hasn't been updated much since it was originally built in the early 1900s. Sounds like a great place for modern learners, right?
My Project
I am asking for supplies that may seem random, but all have a use in my room. The box cutter, glue gun and glue sticks will be used for the gingerbread houses that we're currently creating. The cable adapters and cables will be used to hook my laptop to the promethean board. The mini flashlights will be used in our concert for one of our songs - my students have created choreography that uses flashlights and they're really excited about this.
