This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many students in my classroom often come in on the first day of school with no supplies for the school year. This makes it difficult when completing assignments within the classroom, and therefore hinders their ability to be successful.
Many of my students walk into the classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
I want them to know I believe in them, and they can do anything.
I teach at a Title I school where 100% of the students receive free lunch and the majority of the students live below the poverty line.
Many of my students receive backpack buddy food on Friday for the weekend. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. For many of them, school is the safest and most stable place there is. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day. My students deserve the best! I want to be able to provide them with that!
My Project
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
As the school year begins I am able to reflect back on some activities that I wish I could have made happen for my students last year.
Our school is in a very high poverty area. 100% of my students receive free lunch. Many of them do not come to school with a single supply all year long.
It is my goal to take the burdens off the students that have not and give them everything they need to be successful throughout the school year.
It is by no fault of the student that they are without what they need to be successful. As a teacher, you can tell that when a student is without the basic necessities it is tough to make it through the school year. I would love to be able to make it so they are able to focus on learning 100% of the time and not what they are going to write with or how they are going to get this assignment done without scissors. With your help, I could take the focus off the things the students don't have and allow them to focus on what they are learning!
