This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It seems that all teachers at one time or another have shaken an ink cartridge, trying to get that one last printed paper out!
My students are wonderful 5th graders who have an abundance of enthusiasm that I have been able to direct into photography!
Our school is a wonderful old school in a urban area of Southern California. We are hard-working, inquisitive, and fun. Almost ready for middle school, definitely ready to take on 5th grade.
My Project
Our art projects require us to take photographs of architecture, friends, objects, and nature. We then print the pictures and paint the images onto canvas. This requires two things: printer ink and art canvas. We have run out of both of these supplies. Without the ability to print their photographs my students can only view their pictures on the computer. This is not convenient when you are trying to paint the image. When my students are able to take their own photographs of the images that they feel are interesting or beautiful they are learning on artistic skill. Then they work on the reproducing their images on "real artist canvas" allowing them to work on their painting technique. I really want my students to have these creative experiences; that is why our need for printer ink and artist canvases is so important.
My enthusiastic artists will be very grateful should you choose to fund our grant.
Art is one of the times where we can forget about testing and deadlines, instead we can just have fun!
