This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a 2nd-grade teacher in a high needs, low income, Title I school. Our students are primarily English Language Learners. Our school is made up of 70% ELL and 100% of them receive a free lunch and breakfast.
I have an incredible group of 26 students this school year.
We are four week into this school year and every day these students will walk into the classroom eager to learn and ready to face any challenge that's put in front of them. Students spend long hours at school every day and, yet, every single day they're excited to be here and ready to take on whatever is put in front of them. It truly amazes me how determined and dedicated these young minds of theirs are.
My Project
This is our first official full year of school and I have learned that a lot of my students have very different learning abilities. Some of my students are still learning social skills like being kind to one other. Having a year not being in a class has effected a lot students on how to control their emotions.
I want to make sure that we have supplies to help my students have successful school year and having these items will assist in our daily needs.
The fidgets and building blocks will help keep my students engaged and provide them with those hand on manipulatives needed as visuals during out math and reading lessons. The heads phone are going to be such a great help as we have different blended learning programs the students are able to use in class time. I have a sink in my classroom where students are able to wash their hands daily to maintain clean hands. Therefore, I have added a few items such as a towel holder and baskets to help keep our paper towels and soaps organized by our sink. I have also added storage containers that will be used to store all these new items in our classroom.
All the other supplies will be used to show my students that they can still learn while have fun. I want to be able to provide my students with all these items and show them that you can come back strong after a pandemic year.
