Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Words and sharp pencils - that's all I ask. Hoping that DonorsChoose.org can help supply my classroom with these basic necessities.
My students are a motivated, energetic group of 29 third graders.
They attend a public elementary school with about 400 students in California. They come from many different backgrounds, including Latino, Asian, African-American and Caucasian. Our school is a Title I school with about 50% of students on free or reduced lunch.
My Project
I am requesting books in a series because they allow students to really study a character and observe how that character changes across several books. I am requesting two copies of each set so that more than one student can read the same series and discuss its characters. Additionally, I am asking for a math and literature resource book and the literature that accompanies the lessons. I am also requesting an electric pencil sharpener so that I don't have to go to the teacher's room in order to sharpen pencils. And finally, I am asking for printer ink to continue printing all the documents we need this year (newsletters, forms, labels, permission slips, photos, Internet information).
Getting these books and supplies is very important for the success of my students.
The books are invaluable in fostering students' love of reading. Having an electric pencil sharpener will help our days run more smoothly. And having printer ink will allow me to continue printing the documents we need this year. We really need these books and supplies. Please help us get our new school year off to a great start!
