Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a low-income school in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx, NY. My students are in a special class. The majority of my students are academically and emotionally challenged and suffer from trauma and poverty. As a result, they exhibit depression, anxiety, and aggressive behaviors on a daily basis. Their parents and caregivers are also struggling and aren't always able to provide their children with the tools or basic needs they need to even have a chance of success.
My students come to school every day full of life and ready to learn.
Our school is a Title I school located in the Bronx. I teach a third and fourth-grade special education class where there are many different learning styles. My students are energetic and have a love for learning. Despite the many hardships the face daily, my students are still eager to learn to do their best.
My students often see school as an escape, and it would be amazing to continue to give them the necessary things they need in order to succeed and have a successful rest of the school year!

My Project
Basic classroom materials such as pencils, paper, folders, white boards and more are all basic supplies that we use in our classroom daily. Unfortunately many students’ families cannot afford to buy supplies for their children. We are in need of these basic supplies in our classroom. We have run low or even out of some of them. We need these materials in order to help us learn! Many times we run out of basic materials in the middle of the year because of all the learning and projects we do.
Help replenish our basic classroom supplies so our students can continue learning to their full potential!
Everything that has been donated to our school is so appreciated. Our students are such hard workers and deserve the same basic classroom supplies that more privileged schools are able to easily give.
