This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Being in an urban area, my students do not always have the money for the supplies that are asked for to begin the year on the right foot. They need help. They are ready to learn, but need supplies.
My students are spunky and full of excitement.
They come in ready to show what they know and are so very lovable. I get hugs in the morning and extra hugs at dismissal. Being able to give them materials and hugs helps them to feel ready to learn!
My Project
My students don't always have what they need to get started in the new year. It would be fantastic to give each student the folders they need to keep organized for each subject and communicate with parents. Chart paper will be used to create anchor charts to help students to see what skills we are working on as we go through the year and are able to read the room. The students and I create these for each subject and interactive activities as well.
No student should be unable to complete an assignment because they don't have a pencil.
I want to make sure every student has their own pencils and glue sticks to ensure they can complete any activity.
We do a lot of writing in our class and we need graphic organizers using the printer ink and paper. Organizers help to focus writing and allow students to develop their thoughts. Once done with a draft, students also can edit their own or peer edit writing using gel pens to make sure the suggestions stand out. All of these things will help my students to be more successful through the school year.
