Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are mathematicians. They question the world around them, develop new ideas, and are learning how to advocate for themselves. My students are eager to learn, understand, and to create change. With access to the appropriate resources, loving encouragement, and opportunities for engagement, all of my students thrive. When they have the opportunity to engage in 21st Century mathematics learning they are preparing themselves for the bright, successful futures that every single one of them deserve.
Approximately 95% of our school’s students come from low income backgrounds.
90% receive free or reduced lunch. 98% identify as coming from a minority group. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures that need to be celebrated. Our school provides our students with the opportunity to celebrate who they are. We are an innovative turn-around school filled with students that deserve to have all of their dreams at the tips of their fingers. We are a school filled with love. We are strong in our belief that every student has what it takes to succeed. We are committed to helping our students become 100% college and job ready. We are a family.
My Project
Can you imagine starting school without school supplies? In August, my students will be excited to return to school and see beautiful new school supplies ready for them to utilize in their mathematical learning!
In August, 60 diverse, amazingly energetic, and extremely curious new middle school students will be joining me in our new classroom!
I am requesting basic school supplies so that my sixty sixth graders have what they need to succeed. Notebooks are essential for enabling students to take ownership of their own learning as they take notes and complete math problems in a way that works best for them. Pencils and erases allow them to make mistakes and learn from them! Dry erase markers will allow my students to work in teams to solve mathematical equations and write them out on our dry erase tables! With these basic classroom supplies my kids will start the year ready for success. Help us get our class room ready for a year of learning and growth!
