Supplies for Success Part 2

Help me give my students Mead Primary Journals, crayon boxes, pencils, glue sticks, erasers, and dry erase markers to start off our year the right way!

My Students

The students at my school are from a rural farm community. We have a small school at the edge of a large corporation. Our students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds. We are lucky to have great families that work hard and are involved in our school events, but we don't get a lot of extra funding from the state. This is due to our school not qualifying as a Title I school. Title I schools have a higher level of free and reduced-price lunches than we currently have.

My sweet kiddos are hard workers, but they have lots of extra energy and thrive during hands-on activities.

We try to keep moving around our classroom several times throughout the day to help with this. I also have tried to incorporate a flexible seating environment to keep their little bodies wiggling, while engaged in learning, while at our seats. We have had a lot of success when we use hands-on manipulatives and activities.

I love to provide learning opportunities that will get my students moving, thinking, and stimulating their learning by creating.

My Project

The start of the year can be very expensive for families and these much-needed supplies will help my students have things that we need to help our classroom run smoothly without asking families to spend a lot out of pocket, especially with many families struggling right now due to the pandemic.

These supplies will help us stay organized in our classroom, allow us to get creative, and help us have fun with writing!

We will use the Primary Journals daily as a way to promote early writing for the students! They will have a way to tell us something that they want to share by writing in their morning journals! This will them get started with their early writing skills and then they can also draw a picture at the top of the page to illustrate what they wrote or just draw a picture and write a few words in the beginning! The Ticonderoga pencils are truly the best and we go through a lot of them each year! I love the pink erasers because they are strong and last the whole year. Each child will have their own glue sticks and crayon box to keep their crayons organized and in their very own container. Dry erase markers are a must for us to practice writing letters, words, and practicing our Rocket Math. These supplies will help us get our year started the right way with all the supplies that we need! :)
