Supplies for Success in Kindergarten!

Help me give my students folders, pencils, paint, and baggies to help us start off our year with needed supplies!

My Students

The students at my school are from a rural farm community. We have a small school at the edge of a large corporation. Our students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds. We are lucky to have great families that work hard and are involved in our school events, but we don't get a lot of extra funding from the state. This is due to our school not qualifying as a Title I school. Title I schools have a higher level of free and reduced-price lunches than we currently have.

My sweet kiddos are hard workers, but they have lots of extra energy and thrive during hands-on activities.

We try to keep moving around our classroom several times throughout the day to help with this. I also have tried to incorporate a flexible seating environment to keep their little bodies wiggling, while engaged in learning, while at our seats. We have had a lot of success when we use hands-on manipulatives and activities.

I love to provide learning opportunities that will get my students moving, thinking, and stimulating their learning by creating.

My Project

The start of the year can be very expensive for families and these much needed supplies will help my students have things that we need to help our classroom run smoothly without asking families to spend a lot out of pocket.

These supplies will help us stay organized in our classroom, allow us to get creative, and keep our families involved in our learning!

We will use the blue folders to send home daily as a communication device with families. I can send home important things and they will know where to look and can send me things and I will check them each day as well! The red folders will become our "Rainbow Readers" which will house various poems, Nursery Rhymes, and Songs that we learn in class and the kids always love to share with their families! These Ticonderoga pencils are truly the best and we go through a lot of them each year! The paint will be used at our Art Center to create some artwork, and the Hefty Bags will be used daily for our "Kindergarten" word cards and to store little books that the kids have practiced and can read! I like the sliders because they are so much easier for my littles to open and close.
