My Students

The majority of my third-grade students come from low-income single-parent homes. Unfortunately, many of the parents are not able to help their children develop reading skills. On the first day of school, more than 90% of the students that entered my classroom were not reading at a third-grade level. These students are hard-working and goal-oriented, they just need reading materials that will help them to develop the reading skills they need in order to achieve their academic goals.

My students are part of a T.E.A.M.

because we believe that Together Everyone Achieves Mastery. At the end of the year, my third graders must pass an online state test in order to go to fourth grade. My students do not come to school with a love of literacy. I know that by incorporating different genres into our daily literacy lessons my students will reach their goals and become third-grade readers.

My Project

Classroom organization is a key component to any successful classroom. As teachers, we want to make sure our students have a place for their classwork, notebooks, and anything else they will use in our classroom. Student binders are the perfect way to set up students for a successful school year and teach them the organizational skills they will need for life.

My students will use their binders daily in the classroom, as well as share them with someone at home.

This tool will be an important resource for home and school communication, along with a place to store monthly calendars, homework, and important documents. The notebooks and highlights will be used to keep track of important information they discover while reading. They will also use the notebooks to brainstorm and create writing pieces.

I am really excited about starting the upcoming school year with supplies for my students. Thank you in advance for helping to fund our project.
