This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are a mixture of Black and Hispanic students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. The majority of them are on free or reduced lunch. A large majority of them walk a significant distance from their housing projects to the school. Many of them don't have the basic supplies that they need for school like pencils and paper. Due to budget cuts in the state we are unable to get students the necessary supplies that they need. Thank you so much for your help.

My Project

We need these school supplies in order for my students to feel confident with their learning. When they have one less thing to worry about like pencils and crayons, they are more relaxed and ready to learn. When these supplies are already available in class, the students are able to create projects and paintings. In science I would like my students to create food web posters that they can display at our Family Science Night program. With these supplies they will be able to use their creativity in other ways. Thank you so much for helping to support my classroom and all the students.
