My Students
My fourth grade students live in Chinatown, New York City. The school that I teach at, PS 126, is a racially and economically diverse school with many English language learners. My students are motivated and eager to learn, despite adversity faced at home. When my students arrive at school, they have the opportunity to leave their troubles at the door and enter a warm and nurturing classroom environment that enables them to take risks and reach their highest potential. This environment gives them the support and confidence they need to succeed!
My Project
As a fourth grade teacher, I believe in project based learning with arts integration. The supplies and materials I am asking for will help my students draw and write about information they have learned. It will also provide opportunities for my students to turn newfound knowledge into beautiful and creative projects.
My students have MANY different units of study.
For example, my students learn about the Solar System through a nonfiction reading unit of study. The black fact files folders, card stock, index cards, sharpies, glue, tape, and coloring supplies will help my students create a fact file in which they draw and write about a specific planet they researched. The fact file is fun, creative, and most importantly, helps my students take ownership of their learning.
My fourth graders are smart, artistic, and LOVE to show off their expertise through culminating projects. Please help my students integrate the arts!
