Help me give my students supplies for next year to start off running, paper, graph paper, markers, name labels, and heavy duty plastic folders for organizing into a homework folder.
We have a wonderful community where elementary teachers know all of the students k-6, high school teachers know all students 6-12, but most teachers know all students k-12 and beyond. Parents will request for their kids to attend our school when other schools aren't working for them. We have wonderful diagnostic opportunities for kids so we know where every kid is all the time, and we meet regularly to talk about student data and progress, what we can do for them individually, personally, and of course academically.
My students have big dreams, it's something I love about this age.
I have in my classroom future NBA stars, doctors, lawyers, and veterinarians, and that's just the first four kids I surveyed. I must inspire them to keep learning. I refuse to let their big dreams die in my classroom. Motivating them to do their best on the skills I'm required to teach is my way of helping them be successful later.
My Project
Sure, we as teachers are doing more from home than ever, in my case with my own kiddos running around. However, parents in my eyes are the real rock stars in this Covid19 weirdness. My hope is to have several projects funded so that when fall rolls around parents have very little to provide their child for school.
The composition notebooks for math journals, plastic folders for homework (different colors for each class period), Expo markers for daily practice and showing work, and all other supplies are items I typically list on our School Supply List, but if this project is funded my class parents will have very little to purchase next fall.
These are items my co-teacher and I used regularly and view as a necessity for our classes, but having them ahead of time would give us peace of mind and a chance to have things a little more ready for learning in the fall, but also save so many parents the financial burden of trying to provide these exact items for their child. Other items, like the stickers, will help setup of the class and labeling items much quicker than printing my own.
