My Students

I work at a college preparatory middle school in a single gender environment. Students work in a technology rich learning environment where teachers guide instruction with Smartboards in every classroom and where students use iPads to participate in a rigorous curriculum. The focus on academic excellence promotes achievement, pre-AP readiness, professionalism, self-confidence and motivation in a stimulating atmosphere that prepares young men for success and allows them to grow as leaders while developing a positive self image.

At our school we empower and inspire our students and instill in them a strong work ethic and expect our students to model core values in both school and community.

Our core values are Responsibility, Respect, Honesty, Integrity, Confidence, Perseverance, Courtesy, Good Judgment and Good Sportsmanship.

My Project

These writing supplies will enable my students to be active readers and notetakers and help them to get involved in the material. My goal is for my students to collect data and retain information as they read. Active reading skills such as highlighting and making margin notes will act as a catalyst for critical thinking skills and further their learning.

Making sure my students are interested, engaged, and invested in their learning tasks will help them to develop higher-order thinking and problem-solving abilities as well as learn the content.

Having the necessary supplies to read and take notes effectively will assist my students in learning independence and accountability in their education.
