My Students

I teach at a Title I school in South Carolina with a high poverty level. My students are challenged academically, socially and economically. Most of my students love to learn, but, at times, are worried with their own personal struggles.

Day-to-day home life that may be less than appealing; sick family members, drug-addicted siblings, parents in jail, you name it, we have it covered.

Several of my students have been in foster care, being raised by other family members, or homeless. There is a mix of African American, Hispanic, and Caucasian; my students range from gifted to learning disabled to autistic.

Despite the hardships faced outside of school, they truly come into class and do their best.

My Project

These supplies will help us be engaged in learning and give us a chance to share our thoughts and answers! My students will be going to middle school next year and I am trying to teach organizational skills and independence before they go. The paper organizer will help them learn these skills. I would love to display more student work on our bulletin boards so students can develop more self confidence before going to middle school.

My students will use expo markers and the organizer everyday and we will be able to make bulletin boards to display our learning with the bulletin board paper!
