My Students

My fourth-grade classroom is a diverse group of students eager to learn! Many of my students have the drive to take charge of their own learning, and my goal is to give them the means to do so!

My goal for my students and my class this year is to make learning fun, as well as accessible to all students, regardless of background.

Many of them come from low socioeconomic households, so parents aren't able to provide much for the classroom. I hope to implement a number of strategies and use resources that will help them grow from where they are, not where they should be. I am looking for resources that allow for hands-on application of their learning.

My Project

Students are most successful when they can create physical representations of their learning. The use of post-its allows students to mark up their reading, even if the book doesn't belong to them. Dry erase markers give students the chance to make mistakes, erase and try again. Chart paper allows students to make visual reminders of their learning through thinking maps or team brainstorms. Post-its allow students to take notes on the books they are reading, without causing damage to the books. Markers and scissors allow students to create beautiful projects that allow them to show their learning in unique and engaging ways!

Students need to be given the space and opportunity to share their thinking.

These supplies will provide for a hands-on learning experience that will stick with students long after they have left my classroom. We are working to create lifelong learners!
