My Project

The Science of Reading is not new science but it is new to us. This year we were given some research that has given us a leg up on getting our kids to read, with better strategies and explicit teaching of phonics in a different way than I have been teaching and learning for the past 25 years!

Mirrors, page protectors, and magnet wands will allow me to make kits for my students to better understand the letters, sounds, and words they need to learn to become readers.

A standing pocket chart will allow me to display the material they will be practicing, and orthographic mapping boxes will give students a frame for making letters and sounds into meaningful words. All of this new research is so exciting but we need some help to get it underway. Thank you for your consideration.
