My Students

I teach in a small community at a one-section, Pre-K-12 school with a population of about 360 students. Most of my second graders have been together since preschool and will most likely graduate together in another ten years. They function very much like a large family and keep me on my toes every single day!

Second graders are curious about everything, excited to learn, and constantly moving.

We change gears frequently in our classroom in order to keep everyone focused and engaged! I could not imagine spending my days among a more wonderful group of people than my 21 students. They are truly amazing and inspire me to be a better teacher and person.

My Project

Many of our classroom resources and supplies are getting tired and worn out! It is that time of year when the things we use most began to show wear and tear.

My students take very good care of our classroom things, but after daily use some of them are in need of replacement.

Our project is for a few things that we need to rejuvenate our classroom!

We use our individual white boards for math, reading, and writing lessons several times each week. We have a handful of white boards that are in very tough shape, and we only have about a dozen worn-out erasers for the entire class to share! Ten new whiteboards and a new set of erasers will be very helpful!

We have flexible seating in our classroom, so students may move around the room throughout the day. Because we don't have any desks, supply and work storage can be challenging. We have "More Time Pockets" to keep all of our work safe and organized. The current pocket charts that we use for this are becoming worn-out and torn after a few years of daily use. We need these new storage pocket charts to keep our work safe and organized!

Finally, we need a place value chart and poster to help us keep track as we count our days of school. We like to do this on our Smart Board, but it is very old and there are many days when it will not work. We need another way to to keep track of our days of school and practice our place value skills!
