This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the privilege of teaching six amazing students in grades K-2. They are sweet, energetic and full of wonder. All of my students have communicative disorders and deficits in social as well as cognitive domains. As one of their first learning experiences, I strive to create an environment that is safe, fun and engaging.
It is inspiring to see these students reach milestones that one might take for granted.
With the right support, the sky is the limit for my students!
My Project
Storytelling is integral to an early childhood classroom for a myriad of benefits it provides. Hearing stories helps students hear sounds and words and promotes literacy concepts that are important for language development.
In addition, stories help to spark curiosity and stimulate their imagination which leads them to think about their world in a different way.
I teach children on the Autism Spectrum and it is said they "think in pictures" so having visuals such as the storytelling puppets and activity kits will help them process the information they are receiving. Please help fund this project and help our class with our language development and sparking curiosity in their young minds!
