Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a combination 2nd and 3rd grade classroom of gifted children. The students in my gifted classroom are able to process information at a higher level than most students their age.

In my classroom, we focus on exposure to science and math-based job opportunities, STEM projects, hands-on lessons, and project-based learning.

The students in my class need less repetitions than most kids their age need to master information, so we are able to move at a faster pace than their grade-level peers.

My Project

These materials will help my students "build" their engineering and problem-solving skills. The Knex and Structural Engineering kits will support our Science and Engineering standards on bridges. The Legos will help the students use their imaginations and engineering skills to build structures that can withstand different "weather condition" tests that we will place on the structures.

The students will need to use valuable cooperation and communication skills to work in partners and with groups to complete these kits.

These are skills that my little engineers will be able to take with them outside of my class. These STEM centers will provide so many opportunities for growth in my little learners!
