My classroom is a combination 2nd and 3rd grade classroom of gifted children. The students in my gifted classroom are able to process information at a higher level than most students their age.
In my classroom, we focus on exposure to science and math-based job opportunities, STEM projects, hands-on lessons, and project-based learning.
The students in my class need less repetitions than most kids their age need to master information, so we are able to move at a faster pace than their grade-level peers.
These three STEM centers will help my students look forward to our math block every day while building critical thinking skills. The 120 mat game will help students practice adding and subtracting within 120 in a visual and engaging way. The "Blocks Rock!" game will help students build spacial awareness while supporting geometry standards. The tumbling blocks game will have math problem cards for students to solve based on the color block they have chosen.
These games will bring excitement and engagement into our math block.
I feel passionate about helping students love math from an early age. STEM games and centers are a perfect way to make math fun!
