My students need a flip video camcorder, an iPod Touch, a digital camera and an adapter cable.

I teach in an early childhood school (pre-k-1st) in a high-need community. We have identified over 60 children at our school who could benefit from a planned sensory integration program. These children have Autism, ADHD, ODD, Speech Processing Problems, etc.

I have created a Sensory Room to assist these children with Sensory Integration. The room has been cleaned up, cleared out, painted and we have added some wonderful items to the room (with help from fantastic donors like YOU!!!). I started with a bounce house in an empty room. I now have a trampoline, jumpoline, ball pit, frog tent, climbing wall, swings, sandboat (a sand box shaped like a boat)and mats for safety. The children have started to use the room and my data is already showing impressive changes in behavior! I have also observed improved social skills occurring during the time the children are in the sensory room together. I would like to add technology in the room to assist with communication, social skills and relaxation.

I am requesting three items that I feel will really help the children using the room. The iTouch I will use to make INDIVIDUAL playlists for each child using the room. When they are in there I can turn on their playlist and it will play all their favorite music. I can also set up categories such as "calming", "nature sounds", "classical", "water sounds", etc. Another advantage with the iTouch is I can purchase apps for the device that can assist with communication (acts as a voice-output device) and relaxation (relaxing patterns, etc..) The flip video camera and the digital camera will assist with video self-monitoring, labeling items, communication development and documenting the tremendous impact that Sensory Integration is having on the students.
