Help me give my students engaging books to build excitement for reading. The Amulet series is in high demand and I would like to be able to offer it in my classroom library.
Our school is in an urban area in Virginia. We take pride in being the most diverse elementary school in our district and represent about 30 different languages that are spoken by our students. Our students and teachers love books and make reading a special part of each day. Along with motivating our students to read books they enjoy, our teachers are always working to increase our students' academic achievement and social-emotional skills. We love having new and engaging books for our students to read!
My Project
I work with struggling readers in a large urban ring school. I need engaging books to hook my students and keep them excited about reading. Students I work with are able to check out books from my classroom library. As they find series they are interested in, they spend more and more time reading at school as well as at home. I am hoping to get the Amulet, Johnny Boo, and Wedgie and Gizmo series for my students to check out. This will provide new books at different reading levels. These will be a huge addition to my library and will help me get students reading for fun, which builds their fluency and confidence in their ability as readers. I have had numerous students ask for these series this year and I can't wait to see their faces when they are a part of my library!
