Super Scientists in Need of Technology!

Help me give my students the technology to become scientists, think critically and conduct research.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a third grade science teacher, I have the luxury and high honor of being a "cool" teacher. My students are curious, critical thinking geniuses. They are motivated, excited and brilliant. They walk into our science classroom and they are full of questions, facts and ideas. What better way to spend my day than chatting with 70 inquisitive young minds?! Hard to beat!

My mini scientists spend time creating hypothesis, conducting experiments and analyzing data.

They use their data to communicate their results and write down their results. We use our workbooks, the SmartBoard, Chromebooks as well as just jotting thoughts down on paper. By integrating the Ipad in our classroom, this will allow for a new way to log our information, conduct small groups and use for research.

My goal for this project is to motivate higher order thinking. I would like for the students to continue developing their research, critical thinking and communication skills. I would like them to use their technology to further their curiosities and strike new ideas of what they can be capable of. This would also allow for more projects to be done in class.

My students are a unique group of children. All come from various backgrounds, mostly made up of first generation immigrants. Many, if not all, speak more than one language, they are involved in clubs, sports and attend different schools on the weekends to learn more about their cultures. When they get together, it is easy to remind them that they are unstoppable, able to accomplish anything they ever dreamed of. Each lesson we learn introduces STEM careers to the students so they can broaden their horizons about their futures. They are so passionate about learning, that I would like to keep the momentum going!
