Super Readers Read at Home, Too!
Help me give my students leveled books that they can take home each week to continue their hard work from class.
This will be the third year that we have had three rounds of full-day kindergarten at our school (no more half-day)! Our students often come to us with little experience interacting with other children their own age. I am so excited to have the opportunity to meet their varying needs in a full day. This full-day time allows us to put playtime back into the kindergarten schedule!
We have many students who need stability and guidance at our school.
They all need some extra love and warmth when they enter our room. We are working hard to build a special community that will carry them through all of the years of school (and life) they have ahead.
Our school is working hard to build vertical alignment, using Units of Study in reading, writing, and phonics. We are starting our second year implementing all three. We also make social-emotional learning a priority in every classroom.
Many of my students don't have books at home. The books in my classroom have been bought with district or Title money and I am held accountable if they are lost. So, it is hard to send books home with my students.
These books are made to be take home books that students can take home for a week and then bring back to the classroom and share with other students.
However, they are light weight and inexpensive enough that I can afford to replace them, if they end up not making it back to the classroom. Help me make sure that my Super Readers get to become Avid Readers by reading at school AND at home!
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
