Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are five-year-old children who are eager to learn. They work collaboratively at workstations while I work with small groups on concepts of print, letter sounds, and guiding reading.
They enjoy working independently in small groups.
They always give their best effort. My students are unique because they learn at different levels. Workstations allow students to receive instruction at their independent learning levels.
Kindergarten is where children learn the basic skills they will use to build on throughout life. It is important to build a strong foundation. Being organized is an important skill in helping to build a strong foundation.
My Project
Having storage bins in our classroom will help to create a structured learning environment that will train students to be organized and responsible. Students will use these storage bins to gather the materials needed for their learning workstations. Students will have the opportunity to explore at the following centers: word works, alphabet center, listening center, computer center, and the pocket chart center.
Students enjoy working independently and feel successful when they can easily retrieve materials.
Having storage bins will allow my students to gather materials quickly and maximize their time at each workstation/center. The storage bins will hold the necessary materials required to use hands-on materials to learn specific skills (letters, beginning sounds, ending sounds, build consonant-vowel-consonant words and high frequency words).
