My Students

I teach thirty English Language Learners. Students come to me from many backgrounds and many experiences. Some come from homes where multiple languages other than English are spoken and some come to me where the home language is primarily SPN. All of these children bring such unique experiences to their classrooms, whether they were born here in the US or whether they just arrived from another country. Watching them grasp concepts and the language alongside their peers, is exciting and fulfilling work!

My Project

These books will be sent home with students who have little to no access to books at home. Students will be allowed to write and use these books to practice the skills they have learned all through the school year over the summer break. Summer slide can happen to even the brightest kids, and it doesn’t need to be over a long period of time – even a couple of weeks away from school can soften skills.

These materials will allow students to practice skills all through the summer and deter regression of reading levels for the start of the school year in August.
