Summer Smarties Soaring to Second Grade

Help me give my students summer bridge workbooks, notebooks, pens, stickers, and bubbles for a smart and fun break from school!

My Project

My students need a summer workbook covering all subject areas, a notebook to write in, and fun pens to keep it exciting. They also would love stickers to decorate their summer notebooks and bubbles to enjoy over the summer.

These books and supplies will make an impact because my students are especially at risk to lose much of their learning due to summer slide.

“Summer slide” is the tendency for students, especially those from low-income families, to lose some of the achievement gains they made during the previous school year. A recent study showed that students lost on average, about twenty percent of their school-year gains in reading and twenty-seven percent of their school-year gains in math during summer break. My students need supports to keep them warmed up over the summer.

I plan to pack all these terrific items in a tote bag for the kids to take home on their last day of first grade.
