Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a small rural community. My school serves K-8th grade students. The school library provides books and services to all 9 grades. Most of the students here are from low-income homes or homes where English is a second language. They wait patiently every morning for me to unlock the library door. They come to the library for a variety of reasons, to read, check out books, get warm, use the computer, and other activities that I provide for them.

My Project

Summertime. WE all love it! My students especially. I would like to offer a summer book check out program. Where some of my students could take books over the summer to finish series that they have been reading and to encourage them to keep reading.

"The Treehouse" series by Andy Griffiths is so popular.

New books have recently been written and added to the series. These books would be very in demand if we had them and the students could borrow them over summer.

"The Seekers" series by Erin Hunter is also being requested by my students. We have a few of the first books but none of the more recent books. I would really like to complete this series and with funding I can. Thank you for considering my project.
