Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

With the end of the school year fast approaching, I would like to encourage my students to continue to explore and enhance their love for reading, by providing each of them with a book to add to their summer reading list.

Unfortunately, time and time again the summer months have proven to be a critical time in students' literacy development.

Specifically, the “summer slide” is the term coined for the literacy skills loss throughout the summer months. Help me reinforce my students' love for learning and literature by giving them a robust library of texts to choose from this summer. While the summer months are notorious for dampening the literacy skills of students it does not have to be this way. With your help, this summer can become an enriching and enlightening experience for students
