My Students

I love to engage my students and to immerse them in as much literature as possible. Student engagement is the key to success!

I have a class of twenty-two inquisitive students.

We love to be engaged and talk with each other about reading and math. Our school has about 600 students with about 28% of our population having free and reduced-pice lunch. Many of our students come from military families.

My Project

By integrating math and literacy, students will be able to develop fluency in both reading and math. They'll be able to make connections across both subjects and it will further enrich our math and reading community discussions. Students will be able to use these books during guided math, in stations, and for buddy-reading. The books cover a wide-range of our math topics, so we will be able to use them all year long! We also need a display stand so students can see book titles easily.

The donations will have a dramatic impact on my students' learning because it will motivate them to read more, and will improve their 'math talk' by developing their math vocabulary even further!

Our guided math time will be enriched because students will have a wider selection of math books to choose from, and about a much broader range of math topics.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
