This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are so intelligent and creative. They come from low-income families with very limited resources. They are some of the most kind and wonderful people, who deserve the same opportunities and materials as everyone else. We are located in the heart of a large city in Pennsylvania and have wonderful community members and staff. My students are in the seventh and eighth grade autistic support middle school classroom, and are at least two years behind instructionally. They have been identified with learning disabilities and autism, but are just as capable as everyone else.

My Project

This fall our classroom is desperately seeking a good vacuum to help keep our hardworking classroom clean. We are also looking to update and add to our collection of games for social play and sensory integration for our middle school autistic support classroom. Over the years many pieces have gone missing through the use of many students and through classroom moves and we would love to add to some new games that would add some fun and increase our social skills within our wonderful classroom. Some of our requests are Jenga, Operation, HedBanz, Simon Says, and Charades. These games allow for great social skills opportunities for the students to interact in a positive way. The Bissell vacuum would be of great use as we currently do not have one and you know lots of dirt gets tracked into our workspace and would help keep our loved working if environment clean and tidy!
