Suck It Up, a Vacuum Chamber for Science and Engineering
Help me give my students a vacuum pump and vacuum chamber for science demonstrations and degassing of epoxies.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Vizthum's classroom raised $496

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Student population at our middle school is very diverse. About 80% of students are receiving a free or discounted lunch. I teach science and English to a block of STEAM magnet students and a block of students from our Korean Language Immersion class. I want my students to be able to master technology that will help them compete in our technology dependent world!
My students are surrounded technology, and I want them to manipulate and use it to solve real world problems.
I want my students to be the innovators of the future!
My Project
The vacuum pump will be used for both science demonstrations, as well as being used by students in my robotics class. The vacuum chamber will be used to demonstrate and teach air pressure and weather systems, heat transfer, carbon dioxide production in industrialization, and many other concepts.
In my robotics class, we will use the vacuum chamber to degas epoxies, glues, and liquid acrylics that students will be using to build and design their projects.
This is needed in order for students to fabricate parts that would be damaged by the presence of air bubbles.
This air pump was chosen because it can be operated inside a closed room, no exhaust, and is high quality which will last for many years.
