Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year teaching speech at three different schools in the Port Arthur ISD. I have about 80 students that I will see per week. My students may vary in grade and age but they are all already precious to me. I cannot wait to help my children succeed and reach their goals! These children have been through so much this past year because of devastating hurricane Harvey, and I’m ready to be a shining light for them!
My Project
Many of my students lack the ability to successfully sit still while participating in speech and language therapy. These alternative seating options will help my children have the option to select the seating that will help fulfill their sensory needs as well as controlling their bodies appropriately. By offering alternative seating choices, I will be able to address sensory and self-regulation needs while increasing the attentativeness and focus of my students. Students will learn to self-regulate emotions and sensory needs, as well as gain self-control. This will help create the optimal learning environment for my students to learn, grow, and succeed.
